Many audits fail because they start too late.
Equity is not defined by technology; it is defined by people’s lived realities.
In education, for example, what does “fair” truly mean?

A system can show 90% accuracy and still be deeply unfair.
If it works well for most users but consistently fails those who are already vulnerable, it is not a technological success; it is an ethical failure.
Auditing for equity means looking beyond averages.
It means breaking results down by subgroup and ensuring reliability does not depend on who someone is or where they come from.
